The board acts in a stewardship role and is entrusted to work on behalf of all stakeholders. It is accountable for the school’s performance, emphasises strategic leadership, sets the vision for the school and ensures compliance with legal and policy requirements. Boards are given the power under the Education Act 1989 to control the management of the school. They are the legal bodies with legal obligations to govern the school in accordance with the Acts and Regulations of Parliament and within the school’s own charter.
BOT
The Whenuapai School Board is a group of individuals that are part of the Whenuapai School community. The Board meets in the staffroom at the school. Meetings are held at 6.00pm and are open to the public but they are not public meetings. In other words, members of the public may attend (except during in-committee business) but members of the public do not have speaking or voting rights although we actively involve those who wish to attend.
