Since opening in 1957, Whenuapai School has grown considerably. The student roll by the middle of 2009 is expected to be over 450 pupils in our decile 10 (high socio- economic) school which caters for students between the ages of 5-13 years.

As you will see by looking through this website, Whenuapai School boasts a proud record of sporting, academic and arts achievements. The school is fortunate enough to have many purpose built facilities such as our library, technology room and newly built ICT Suite. Plans are also underway to create a Discovery Room which will provide even better access for our pupils to computers and interactive whiteboards. The school has a large hall fitted with state of the art lighting and sound equipment, plenty of hard court space, an artificial turf and a large field.

The strong partnership between our school and home is a special feature of the school. At Whenuapai School we offer a friendly and open environment for students and parents. The school community is welcoming and supportive, this is evident in our enthusiastic and effective Board of Trustees, the Parent Teacher Association (who raise thousands of dollars for our school each year), the highly dedicated and professional teaching staff and of course our fantastic students. With the support of the community we are able to offer our students excellent  teaching programmes and a range of challenging opportunities including Stage Challenge teams and whole school productions, remedial and extension programmes, outdoor education camps and water weeks, an accelerated learners programme and lessons with a specialist ICT teacher.

The school uniform is a distinguishing feature of the school and in 2009 we will also have a new sports uniform on offer. Sports are an important part of Whenuapai School, as well as participating the Active Schools Programme in 2009, our school will also offer a Sports Development Programme, opportunities to participate in interschool sports competitions and seasonal sporting teams including hockey, rippa rugby, netball, junior tackle and golf. I hope you enjoy our new website. We are looking forward to working with you all.
