6. Auckland Art Gallery Trip

AUCKLAND ART GALLERY

Our class went to the Auckland Art Gallery on Friday 8th May. We had a look around the gallery and we had to walk with our hands behind our backs so that we could respect the art work without touching it. We saw lots of cool things and had to look carefully at the art to learn about signs, symbols and culture.

After we had looked around the gallery, we went into the studio and made our own block print with our own symbol on it. We worked with a partner to choose our colours.

We had to think about how our design was going to look once it was finished and how we were going to place our designs on the page. We talked about the reasons why we chose our symbol and what it meant to us.

We had a great time at the Auckland Art Gallery looking at different signs and symbols. We represented Whenuapai School with great manners. Thanks to all the great parent helpers on the day.
